Year’s End
It’s been a great end to the year with some nice jobs completed and plenty to look forward to going into the new year.
The job at Church Houses, that I mentioned in my previous blog post, was completed and this study should look great once the panelling is fitted and the walls are decorated.
Over the last two months, I’ve primarily been working on a grade II listed cottage, re-plastering it, in lime, throughout.
Three coats of traditional hot lime plaster is in the process of being applied to each wall. Two coats of a, dry slaked, lime render, containing flax fibre and also a fine lime top coat, mixed to my own specifications.
I have used the traditional method of cutting a line into the plaster along the edge of each wooden bead, these lines are known as “quirks”.
Quirks prevent the plaster from cracking on the bead and I think they provide each window and corner with a nice classic look.
I’m due to complete on this project in the new year, with upstairs being finished already and the work downstairs is well underway.
That’s me and my dog, Bean, finished until the new year. Wishing you all the best Christmas and a Happy New Year! Thank you to all my amazing clients this year, it really has been a privilege to work for you. Thank you for reading.
